I may have to work Christmas Eve, but Christmas Day is the one day I don’t write anything. Have a Merry Christmas!
I work Christmas Eve every year. I try to cram in as much as I can on Christmas Eve so that I don’t have as much to do on Christmas Day. Because, to be perfectly honest, I refuse to do any sort of work on Christmas Day.
And by any work, I mean any work.
I don’t clean anything up. I don’t write anything — even for fun. I schedule tweets and posts ahead of time, but don’t actually do anything on Christmas Day.
We open presents as a family, and then we all go do what we want. For my son, it means putting together the LEGOs he inevitably receives. For my husband, it means going back to bed. For me, it means sitting on the couch, pile of candy nearby, reading.
We eat leftovers (if there’s room after all the candy), we laze about. I don’t answer emails or even rant. I just exist in perfect happiness with my chocolate and my books. Sometimes, if my son receives a board game from a relative, I take a break from my indulgence to play a couple rounds. But mostly it’s very chill day.
It’s my favorite day of the year.
No pressures. No deadlines. No need to worry.
What about you? Do you celebrate Christmas? How does it work for you?
